- The Entire Day!
- Western New York
Leap of Kindness Day was invented by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce in 2016. The idea was to inspire their members and community to use the extra day that Leap Year to do something kind for someone else, and hundreds of local organizations helped thousands of local people on February 29, 2016.
In 2020, Leap of Kindness Day was even bigger and better as more than 200 chambers in the US, Canada, and Ireland joined us and organized their own celebrations. In Saratoga, people donated their time, talent, and treasure to help so many people, local charities, and nonprofit organizations, and to thank first responders, teachers, school bus drivers, Veterans, etc.
In 2024, the Upward Niagara Chamber of Commerce will celebrate Leap of Kindness Day, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, and everyone is invited to join us!
To make this happen, local nonprofit organizations can send an email to Jennifer@UpwardNiagara.com to share what your organization needs in 2024. These requests are posted on this webpage as they are received. Please let us know (click here for an easy form) what specific acts of kindness you decided to do from this list or to achieve a mission important to you and your organization.

Big Brothers Big Sisters – Do something kind that will make a BIG difference in the life of a young person in your community! Become a mentor, a Big Brother or Big Sister. Use this extra day to “take the leap” to learn more. Today and year-round, Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for volunteers to give a few hours a month to be a Big to a local child. Enjoy the simple, little moments together – listen, learn, and have fun! Go to BiggerTogether.org or give us a call at (716) 873-5833. There is a child who is waiting to meet you.

All proceeds go to Wear-N-Share Clothing Closet and Care-N-Share Food Pantry operations, purchase of items for both (food, hygiene products, furniture/storage items, cleaning supplies, volunteer recruitment, etc)
Lewiston Porter Youth Football & Cheer - The LPYF is in need of new pop up tents and a commercial popcorn popper. They have been using their personal tents or actually had parents volunteer theirs. The organization has been praised by the referees, parents, and players for their first aid and cooling station. They would love to have tents that would be solely LPYF property. Last year the LPYF offered fresh popcorn at some of the games which was a big hit. They borrowed a commercial popcorn machine every time. Having their own would help generate revenue to help run the league, which is very expensive. Contact email@example.com for more info!
