Bug Fest - Lewiston Council on the Arts

Lewiston Council on the Arts (LCA) and the Lewiston Public Library have teamed up to present a NEW event!  Children of all ages will love "Bug Fest", an afternoon of insect related activities, displays & demonstrations.  It all happens on Saturday, July 10, 2021 in Seneca "Bug" Park, 308 S. 8th St. in Lewiston, NY.

But first, stop in at the Lewiston Public Library and take a look at the beautiful bug displays on loan from 4 H Club member, Samantha Biniecki.  Mary Kate Fonzi, who is a biologist, also has a display at the library and hopes kids will get over the "gross" factor and dispel myths surrounding this fascinating animal group.

Watch the chips fly as Chainsaw Chix, Sara Wojtowecz, carves a bookworm out of a hunk of wood!  Listen to a story read by Children's librarian, Ann Seijka and see a performance by the Daughters of Creative Sound.  Observe a butterfly release, and a demo bee-hive, taste some local honey and enjoy an afternoon celebrating bugs!  Bring a blanket so your pod can sit and enjoy the story & performance.  Children (and adults) are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite bug!!!  There will be a special appearance by Lord and Lady Bugg for photo ops!  Each registered child will receive a goodie bag.
Masks are recommended for unvaccinated adults & children over 2 years old.
Pre-registration is required.
