Ok - I'm getting tired of this shoveling thing! The region was blanketed with just enough snow to become annoying this week! Some of our businesses adjusted their hours due to the snow / ice / rain / snow mix we had over the past few days.
Here are some of the things we have been up to this week!
~The Lewiston Business Group had their monthly meeting on Tuesday. We had established an agenda and went over some important dates coming up. Sara from The Rose Hanger led the meeting. The meeting summary can be found here!
~Our Chairman and staff met with Riveter Design this week to go over some very thoughtful new rebranding names for our Chamber. Wow - a lot of work goes into this process and we appreciate the research Meredith and Chris have done over the past few months. There was so much thought put into words to represent what we do. Stay tuned as our Board continues to work through our strategy process to rebrand our organization!
~Health Insurance cards have been sent out. Please contact Suzanne if you have any issues with them!
~Our Board of Director retreat took place on Thursday at the Griffon in Lewiston. Much of our week has been preparing for this day! The Board had decided last year to invest in our organization by having our strategic planning session facilitated by someone who has experience in chamber work, membership and strategy. Suzanne and Jennifer have been working with Kyle Sexton for a few months now.
The Griffon has a great meeting room on the 2nd floor that was a perfect size for our group of 25. We were able to give our presentation on the large screen, have a BEAUTIFUL view of the Niagara River, and choose breakfast and lunch options that served our meeting space and timeframe. Since our retreat went from 8 - 2pm, we were able to change lunch space to the side bar room which was a great way for our team to casually enjoy lunch and sit with each other in a different format!
Some of the words to describe our retreat were: energizing, enlightening, hopeful, direction, eager, and...the best one: Tiring (meaning, wow I'm tired from this session!).
~Today we met with EMPOWER to discuss ways we can connect them to other businesses and organizations to help in their community awareness and pr efforts. It was a great meeting with Robin and Heather. We discussed ways they could work with current events happening in the area. The Lewiston Business Group has an event in March, and we were able to share some ideas they could use to partner with some of the restaurants during that event. We also discussed how membership to the chamber could help them with their connections and mission.
-Our community lost a great leader this week Jerry Wolfgang had a tremendous impact on our Chamber and community. He had a heart to serve and he will be missed.
Have a great weekend!
