Lewiston Wing Walk Crowns Winning Wings in Inaugural Event

The results are in! The inaugural Lewiston Wing Walk, held on September 28th, 2024, was a delicious success as locals and visitors alike savored the best wings in the Village. The event, organized by The Roaming Table Food Tours, took place concurrently with the Harvest & Hops Festival, which was produced by one of our key partners, Upward Niagara Chamber of Commerce.

After careful tasting and judging by the participants, three standout eateries soared to the top with their delicious and innovative wing creations.

Apple Granny captured the title of “Most Unique Wing” for their bold and tangy Salt & Vinegar Wing. This crowd favorite, offering a distinctive twist on the classic Buffalo wing, will have many folks flocking there to give this hidden gem a taste.

Taking home the top prize for “Best Overall Wing”, Brickyard Pub & BBQ wowed participants with their House Dry Rub. This perfectly balanced rub delivered a savory flavor that was impossible to resist, and proved that sometimes you don’t even need a sauce.

Finally, Tin Pan Alley took the win for “Best Pair of Wings”, dazzling taste buds with their dynamic duo of Honey Hot and Chipotle Garlic. This creative pairing brought together sweet heat and zesty garlic, making them a standout on the walk.

"We’re thrilled with how it turned out, having so many people participating in our inaugural event," said Chris Tepas, owner of The Roaming Table Food Tours. "The support from the community and local businesses was incredible, and we’re proud to have raised funds for our nonprofit partner UPward Design for Life, that helps those in need furnish their homes. We can’t wait to make next year’s event even bigger and better."

The awards were handed out by Lina Brown Young, daughter of John Young, the originator of the beloved Buffalo chicken wing. Lina’s presence added a historical connection to the event, honoring her father’s legacy and the impact of Buffalo wings on the region’s culinary culture. 

“We’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our partners for helping make this event possible,” said David Seide, Chief Wing Officer. “Our partners—Buffalo Bike Tours, Oh Goodie!, Niagara University Castellani Art Museum, Amanda Ashley Music, Brewed & Bottled, Sgt. Peppers, Highmark BCBS of WNY, and John Young’s Original Mumbo Sauce—helped this event become a real wing-ding. The competition was fierce, and all the restaurants brought their A-game. We’re already looking forward to next year—we know it will be even more sauce-some!”
