Youngstown Yacht Club Brings New Regatta to Youngstown!

The winds of change are sweeping through Youngstown Yacht Club with a new take on their annual regatta.

 

The Youngstown Chase will take place on July 26-28, 2024 and replaces course racing with pursuit races, when faster boats chase down slower boats who started ahead of them.

 

The weekend schedule starts Friday with feeder races from Hamilton, Greater Toronto Area, and Olcott/Rochester. Check in and a kickoff party conclude the day. Saturday will then host an 8-12 mile pursuit race, followed by dinner and live music from Western New York’s high energy tropical rock band, Gimme Buffet. The weekend wraps up Sunday with a shorter pursuit race and more live music, this time from local classic and modern rock band, Reflector.

 

“We are incredibly excited for this year’s event and look forward to welcoming our friends and neighbors to enjoy all Youngstown has to offer,” said Commodore Charlie Kegler, Sr., Race Committee Chair. “The spirit of these ‘chase’ races is to be inclusive of cruising fleets with an atmosphere focused on family, friends, and attracting all fleets to Youngstown Yacht Club,” said Commodore Kegler.
